本稿は、スポーツ資料の特性から関連機関とのネットワークの必要性と課題を整理し、秩父宮記念スポーツ博物館の役割を展望する。スポーツ資料は、膨大な資料を構造的にアーカイブする必要がある。しかし、多くのスポーツ博物館には学芸員などの専門職員がおらず、収集・保存の基盤が脆弱である。対応策の一つとして、スポーツ庁が検討しているスポーツ資料の共有データベースがある。これを活用して共通メタデータから目録整備を図り、スポーツ資料のストーリーを整理することで、スポーツ資料の新しい意味の生成が期待できる。秩父宮記念スポーツ博物館は、ネットワークの構築にともなったナショナルセンターの役割を果たすことが急務である。

This paper summarizes the needs and challenges of networking with related institutions in terms of the characteristics of sports-related materials, and views the role of the Prince Chichibu Memorial Sports Museum in this area. Huge amount of sports-related material needs to be structurally archived. However, sports museums do not have professional staff, such as curators, and their infrastructure for collection and preservation activities is weak. One countermeasure which the Japan Sports Agency is considering is a shared database of sports materials. By using this to catalogue with common metadata and organize the stories of sports-related materials, we can expect new discoveries from sports-related materials. There is an urgent need for the Prince Chichibu Memorial Sports Museum to play the role of a national center through such a network.
